They flat out lied to us. That is unacceptable.

Nothing like having no choice and getting screwed by your power company. Wish there were options regardless of were you live.

they don't have a reliable system to take payments over the phone. its a computer. we told it to pay in full it said it did but didn't. then they say its a law to not take it over the phone payment well when asked what law and statute number it is they would not tell me. I have a few businesses and this is the first time I heard its a law you cant take cards over the phone. company guide line maybe but not law. this company is crooked. all they want to do is argue with you on the phone. they wont work with you. looks like another greedy corporation.

This company and it's integrity are severely lacking. I'm making sure the next place we rent, or even own, does not, and most likely never, ever will have East Central Energy service. I cannot stress that enough.

POWER HAD BEEN OUT FOR 7 HOURS NOW AND IT DIDN'T STORM AT ALL

Let me make this next part abundantly clear. Their stated reason for the deposit was poor credit. However, we've both since checked our credit reports several times and there is not, nor ever was, a credit check performed by East Central Energy. My partner called the next day to alleviate the matter. She was told "[East Central] do that because it's a new property, and we do it to everyone." Isn't there something missing from that statement? Like, Oh I don't know.. the reason being poor credit?

If you deal with these folks, you're going for a ride on their whimsical judgement train. That's one guarantee you can count on.

800 operators always helpful, courteous and professional.

The after hours recording is challenging to get through.

We moved to a brand new property. The electricity was being billed to the property management company. First, East Central charged us to move the account into our name(s). That's something neither of us has ever experienced before dealing with new construction.

Actually for us, the phone payments are about the only thing good about this company. The horrible service, however, isn't isolated.

My next experience was this Spring when I called to report intermittent outages happening since that morning. I reached a person on the phone that not only could not find the address, but then got off the phone saying, "If we send someone out and nothing's wrong or we can't find the address, your account will be charged." I was stunned because I'd been ostentatiously grilled about my very identity immediately prior, so I hung up after blankly saying "Ok."

Secondly, we payed a good sum of money to move. Upon calling East Central, they explained that they would require a $180 deposit for 12 months. This is unheard of. I looked around online and found that if they mean to charge for a deposit, they also must consider previous payment records with another company. We paid on-time for the previous six years. Xcel said they'd gladly furnish records. East Central wouldn't hear any of it. Then their customer service was so poor, they couldn't find records of my call trying to reach upper management. We ended up paying the $180 deposit for a year, but that leaves one question. With such terrible service, how are we to be certain we'll even get one dime back? There will probably be some other ridiculous condition or fees excised from that, too.

I didn't understand the accusational tone, and understood even less about how and why reporting a problem could result in us being charged. It was absurd. So again, we called back and they could not find a record of me calling. This seems to indicate a pattern here. Good calls, recorded for training. Bad calls, deleted because of accountability. That issue never was resolved.
